Algarve Tourism Board Recognise Penina Hotel & Golf Resort’s Outstanding Contribution to Tourism

It is our pleasure to announce that on the 18^th of January 2016, Penina Hotel & Golf Resort was once again awarded the prestigious Algarve Tourism Merit Medal.

Presented by the Algarve Tourism Board as part of their 45^th anniversary celebrations, the award recognises Penina’s outstanding services to tourism in the Algarve.

This is the second time since 1995 that the golf resort has received the medal, and General Manager, Luis de Brito (pictured with two of the hotel’s original groundskeepers) is certain that this latest accolade is all down to the hard working staff.

“Since 1966, Penina Hotel & Golf Resort has been at the forefront of luxury travel and golf in the Algarve. Half-a-century ago Penina built the first ever golf course in the Algarve, it has hosted the Portuguese Open a record ten times… and for 50 year’s its staff have delivered an unrivalled five-star service to thousands of guests and golfers.”

Some of the staff – like the two groundskeepers pictured above – have been at the hotel since it first opened its doors… and have literally helped build Penina into the famous institution it has become. It is thanks to them, and all the staff at the hotel, that Penina Hotel & Golf Resort continues to win awards and deliver the highest possible standards of service and luxury.

Throughout 2016, Penina Hotel & Golf Resort – the Algarve’s original golf resort – is celebrating its own big anniversary… 50 years in business. We hope that you can join us in congratulating the hotel, and all its fabulous staff, on a great and successful journey – long may it continue.
