There is a courtesy shuttle service available… along with our own private beach area, refreshment concessions, bar and restaurant. Here you can enjoy scenic walks along the coastal paths that run alongside the blue flag awarded beach. Summer is the hottest month in the Algarve, with an average temperature of 24°C, making it the perfect time to sunbath, swim and dive.

Praia de Alvor is also home to a wide-range of water sports, where you enjoy the calm waters of the sea via pedalo or kayak… or for a more adrenaline-fuelled experience, you can ride the waves on jet skis and banana boats.

Don’t put your clubs away; summer is the perfect time to play a round on our three courses. Penina offers a variety of golf packages this season – all giving you the chance to play on the Algarve’s first 18-hole championship course, our famous Sir Henry Cotton golf course.

Ten time host of the Portuguese Open, the Sir Henry Cotton Championship Course is regarded by many as the finest course in the Algarve. Combining wide fairways with elevated rough, challenging trees and lakes; these features combine together to provide 18-holes of exhilarating golf, giving even the most experienced of golfers a run for their money.

For budding golfers, our Academy Course is the perfect training ground to improve your swing with its 9-hole format…and our Resort Course can be enjoyed by players of all skill across 9 or 18 well thought out holes; all of which follow in the principles laid down by the father of Portuguese golf, Sir Henry Cotton.

Dining Alfresco at Dunas Beach Restaurant

Dunas Beach Restaurant sits right on the Praia de Alvor amid soaring sand dunes and crashing waves. On the menu, diners will find seafood staples, varying between succulent shellfish and white bass, to baby squid and giant tiger prawns. All pulled straight from the ocean, you’ll be spoilt for choice at the delicacies on offer. Enjoy your entrée fresh from the grill with an accompaniment of fresh sides, Algarvian salad and local vegetables.

Gourmet International Cuisine at Penina Hotel

Le Grill restaurant offers fine-dining and pleasing views of the golf course. Portuguese delicacies and international cuisine are served on the terrace in summer, and although the à la carte menu changes each season, our chefs always use the freshest local products and ingredients.

On balmy nights, the outdoor terrace of Bar Monique heaves with guests enjoying drinks and live music. The bar is home to a range of entertainment, and you can socialise until the small hours amongst like-minded holidaymakers, family and friends.
